The Payback example shows that voucher and coupon systems work perfectly all over the world and are gladly used. However, the international giants have a central weak point: They cover half the globe without a regional focus. But what if there was a system like Payback for regional retail so that local shopping was really worthwhile?

What if this system not only attracts with vouchers and supports the regional economy, but can also be used by companies as an employee motivation system, runs through a regional payment service provider and also supports volunteer work? All of this is possible with Awiti 5. Find out what's wrong with the 5-in-1 multi-purpose card from Billiton GmbH has on itself.
One thing is certain: As real bargain hunters, Germans love coupons and voucher systems. This is also confirmed by a recent study by the statistics portal Statista. At least 12 percent of all respondents use vouchers and coupons several times a week. A good 34 percent do this several times a month and at least 32 percent do this at least several times a year.
This is underpinned by an increase in sales of gift cards. In 2014 alone, sales rose by 5 percent across all segments. In 2015, sales already grew by 8 percent. What is particularly interesting here is the increase in retailers where gift cards can be bought and redeemed both offline and online. However, gift cards are now more than gift cards that are used once. Retailers also like to use gift card systems to issue credits or bonus credits. With Awiti 5, we want to bring these systems, which are particularly common among large supra-regional companies, to the region and connect small retailers.
Motivated by the successful launch of the regional Lozuka web department store The idea of a local coupon and voucher system was born. Because we are convinced that such a “payback” system also works perfectly in a regional context with numerous small retailers and represents a win-win situation for both customers and retailers.
For a long time, we have been looking for a partner who could actually implement this project. After searching in vain, we decided to set up such a system ourselves based on our own visions.
The special thing: While existing market competition usually focuses on 1-2 pillars, awiti 5 is the only 5-in-1 system that combines five advantage categories. In addition to the use of vouchers, bonuses and coupons, awiti 5 also supports the use of benefits in kind to motivate employees by companies. The 5-in-1 system is rounded off by the option of supporting voluntary work as a user.
Wherever finances are concerned, transparency and reliability are paramount. We believe that this should also be the case with voucher and bonus systems. Accordingly, we refrain from working with an overseas financial service provider that is difficult to control. Instead, we are also building trusting cooperation with Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken.
All transactions and distributions are carried out using technology from Frankfurt am Main VR Payment. It is therefore also a German product on the financial side. And the best part: Bonus points etc. are not accumulated over months, but are immediately available and recorded almost in real time within a few moments.
The awiti 5 card serves customers as a means of payment and can be topped up accordingly. For example, we plan to top up the customer account at recharge points at local banks and retailers. It is also possible to recharge the card via the online interface via the smartphone app. Alternatively, anonymous gift cards can also be purchased at participating recharge points. These can either be given away, used for anonymous payments or used to top up a personalized user account.
Pure paper systems are cumbersome and are not particularly liked by customers. Accordingly, we have designed awiti 5 as a completely digital solution. The focus is on the specially programmed app, so that customers need nothing more than their smartphone to use awiti 5. The app acts as a control center for charging and monitoring vouchers and bonus balances.
Another special feature of awiti 5 is that companies as employers can also make deposits for their employees. This works very conveniently via a web interface via a direct connection to the company's bank account. As part of the so-called tax-free payment in kind, companies can, for example, distribute bonuses to their employees as motivation and thus promote the local economy at the same time.
Particularly practical: Transactions such as salary allowances and incentive allowances as well as meal allowances can be automated on a monthly basis. The bottom line is that using the employee motivation system only costs participating companies a service fee of 2 percent.
Users of awiti 5 can use the accumulated points and the recharged credit for shopping at participating local retailers as well as at regional online marketplaces. The only requirement: Retailers must register with their shop or online shop in advance. As a customer, you receive one percent of the purchase value in the form of reward points when you shop via awiti 5.
You can collect these points and use them to pay at will. This stimulates the local economy, brings with it the self-motivation for consumption known from Payback and strengthens customer loyalty to local retailers. In return, awiti 5 receives a service fee of 3.5 percent from retailers for using the regional marketing platform.
Customers do not necessarily have to collect the points for themselves, but can use them as an alternative to supporting volunteer work. For the donation to an association or organization of your choice to work, the organization's account must also be stored in the awiti 5 system. If this is the case, the points are converted into real money within seconds and transferred as a donation to the local association's account.
With Awiti 5, we are consistently following our own path. This is not about establishing another bonus system. Our vision is to create a local payback system that merges local retailers, regional online marketplaces, consumers, employers and non-profit organizations in the region into a win-win system.
